Tiger Woods (USA) will miss the US Open, the third men’s golf major of the season.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) on Wednesday announced 84 players who will compete in the US Open without qualifying, and Woods’ name was not among them.

Woods’ absence from the U.S. 먹튀검증 Open was expected after he underwent ankle surgery last month. Woods also missed the PGA Championship, the second major of the season, which concluded on April 22.

Woods, who was involved in a serious car accident in February 2021, went under the knife on March 20 to treat post-traumatic inflammation of the radius bone in his right ankle, which was broken in the accident.

The recovery time is expected to be as short as eight weeks and as long as 12 weeks, and Woods is currently in long-term rehabilitation.

Prior to his surgery, Woods played in the first major of the season, the Masters, and made the cut. After missing the next two majors, Woods is not expected to play in the season-ending The Open in July.

Four South Koreans have qualified for this year’s U.S. Open: Kim Joo-hyung (21-Nike), Lim Sung-jae (25), Kim Si-woo (28) and Lee Kyung-hoon (32-CJ Logistics). Those who did not make the roster will compete in qualifiers to secure their tickets.

This year’s US Open will be held at the Los Angeles CC in Los Angeles, California, USA, for four days starting June 16. The defending champion is Matt Fitzpatrick (Great Britain).

LIVGolf’s Brooks Koepka (USA), the defending PGA Championship champion, will be looking to win his third title. PGA Tour regulars Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Jon Rahm (Spain) are also in the mix after strong wins.
